Kip Pierson Photography bio picture
  • Welcome to my blog!

Thank you so much for coming to my blog! Writing a little something about yourself is probably the hardest thing to do in my opinion---what exactly are you suppose to write? So, instead, we'll start with random trivia. Three of these things are correct and the rest are not:

    I was a Nintendo National Semi-Finalist in 7th grade.
My grandparents were midgets in the Wizard of Oz.
I've made my home in 12 different states in 2 years.
I was "none of woman born."
I've broken my jaw and had it wired shut for 6 weeks.
I once ate 30 White Castle burgers and promptly asked for more.
I beat Lance Armstrong in the Boston Marathon.
    I'm allergic to Benadryl.
I used to run a Pet Graveyard business while in Elementary School.
I only enjoy Romance novels with Fabio on the cover.

Tough, huh? But seriously, I love photography and I love being able to make people happy. So, I guess that's why I enjoy being able to capture the special moments in people's lives. And if you've found this BIO remotely funny, I think you'll enjoy keeping up with my blog. (Particularly if you love movies---I always quote movies.)

So don't be a stranger, add a comment, like something, give some Blog Love. It will make my day and more importantly it will make the person who's in the photo feel special too. Spread the joy, enjoy the work and I hope we'll get to know each other better because of it.

    Cheers!

La Vuelta 2012 DVDs – now on SALE!!!

What Group did you Ride in?

Well, we’ve done it again. Our 5th La Vuelta and another set of rockin’ images. This year’s edition brought in over 22, 000 images (even with all the rain) and we’ve compiled the best of those images into almost 8,000 keepers. Yes, 8,000!!!

Similar to last year, when you order your DVD, be sure to specify which group you rode in on each day.  For example: A, A, B would mean you rode in Group A day 1, Group A day 2 and Group B day 3.  Make sense? If you jumped around a ton and aren’t represented by the options available, select “OTHER” and then specify once you get to the PayPal sight by leaving a comment. You may have noticed we assigned specific photographers to each group at certain times–that was to ensure complete coverage at this year’s LA VUELTA.

As a thank you for being part of this year’s ride, we are creating another slideshow for this year’s edition which will be out shortly that you can send to your friends and show them how great the ride was this year rain or shine. As always, we hope to see you next year.  Have a safe spring and safe riding!

Sincerely,

Kip, Chris & Carol

***As always, the DVDs of the La Vuelta by Kip Pierson Photography are offered at a substantially lower price than what we would normally charge due in large part to the honor system.  In order to be fair and keep costs down, please DO NOT duplicate any DVD you receive for others.  Not only is it a violation of copyright infringement, it’s also just not nice.  These images are intended for personal use only. Thanks for understanding.

Emmett, you just won the Diaper Bowl! What are you going to do next?

“I’m going to Disney World!!!”  Though I may contradict this statement by not wanting to celebrate my own birthday, birthdays are to be celebrated.  And since Ryan celebrated one of his 6 birthdays at Disney already, it was only fair that Emmett should get his chance.  You may also know, I like surprises.  In fact, my frequency in surprising people sometimes thwarts my ability to surprise people.  Case in point: My sister Lisa turns to her husband Mark and says, “Don’t be surprised if Kip shows up.”  What’s that suppose to mean?  Are you saying I’m predictable now!  The truth is, it probably would have been a surprise if I hadn’t shown up unannounced.  Needless to say, I arrived around 1am on flight from DC to Orlando and woke up the next morning just in time to head out to Chef Mickey’s Big Birthday Party for 3 yr. old Mr. Emmett. Proceeded of course by a trip to the pool, an all day excursion to Disney World and of course a dinner at Downtown Disney.  And though I couldn’t convince Ryan to ride Space Mountain, we had a blast.

P.S. The one photo of 999,999 is mine.  I rocked the Buzz Lightyear game @ Disney!  You can’t get any better than that. So, I guess I’m saying…suck it Lisa!

Angela & Kevin:::Married!!! – A Rehoboth Beach, DE Wedding

Who doesn’t love the beach?  Well, Kevin doesn’t like sand, but he might be the only one.  I love the beach. At night, during the day, in a storm or with a breeze, the beach can be one of the most beautiful and centering places in the world.  You can come to many realisations while walking the beach.  It’s as if the beach was built for epiphanies, so what better place to profess one’s commitment to each other than at the beach–and that’s what Kevin & Angela did in Rehoboth Beach.

Luckily the day turned out to be gorgeous.  We were afraid of some nasty 15-20mph winds that might steal away the day, but it was not to be.  Blue skies and clear water made for one spectacular day which gave way to a wonderful night for dinner in Lewes, DE at The Buttery-Restaurant and Bar. Angela and Kevin, thank you both for letting me be a part of your special day. Congrats!

Take Away: Every wedding I try to come up with some idea that I would steal for my own wedding. This might be the type of cake or programs or something of that nature. And the winner is: Movie Night at the beach house (The Hemingway Manor—awesome!!). The night before the wedding a bunch of us stayed up and watch Red Dragon with Ed Norton and Ralph Fiennes.  I know it’s a weird takeaway, but it was at the beach house and anything at that beach house is awesome…and I love that movie.

Billy Finn – Headshots

Billy and I have known each other know since our days back at the Virginia Shakespeare Festival and when I think back, I can hardly believe it’s been 3 0r 4 years since we met. Billy has now been in DC for a few years and when I look at his old headshot, I realized just how young he was when we first met. Well, time has passed and new headshots are in need.  As you can see, Billy’s last headshot looks great, but it also looks like his little brother nowadays. We had a great day in that morning and I’m pretty pleased with what we came up with. Thanks again Billy. I hope they help you get your next gig.
